Dirt Drive Manifesto

Scatter New Orleans around the land?   HELL NO!!!

scatter the land AROUND new orleans!

The federal commitment to rebuild and bolster the levees that surround and protect the city of New Orleans is commendable...HOWEVER

Talk is cheap and GOD helps those who help themselves.
And here I find myself CALLED... to call apon YOU...
 my COUNTRYMEN!      and WOMEN!!!

to contribute your dirt...

To open your hearts to the people of New Orleans...

To dig deep, deeper and beyond your paltry wallets of unholy cash,

down to the soil in abundance at your feet.

because GOD made dirt.

and DIRT DON'T HURT.

while the country stuggles with the subtle treachery of its national deficit, the city of NEW ORLEANS stuggles with a far more diabolical breed of deficit.

A DIRT DEFICIT.

Every year we sacrifice more of our protective coastline to the ravages of the towering sea.

sun after setting sun, our community subsides, into the Superest Bowl of them ALL !

I am solliciting donations of good clean earth from around the country. These donations will be utilized in ongoing conceptual artworks intended to raise awareness for the need of coastal restoration and responsible levee management.

Dirt Drive Artist's Statement

My name is Adam Farrington, and I am an artist.  This is my first conceptual piece.
I have lived in New Orleans and been active in the local art community for 10 years. I love this city and want it to thrive.

My premise is that humans habitually destroy natural systems and replace them with man-made subsitutes. As humans have replaced the food chain with finance and the market place, we must substitute the postal system for the Mississippi river's ruined capacity for building soil mass in southern Louisiana.
